Temporal Notation System

Temporal Notation System

The Temporal System is an open-source weapon combat notation system that is used for SaberCraft choreographies. The system was designed solely from an "Attacker's perspective". As movements are choreographed, the assumption is that the attacker is initiating the contact. Defenders would respond to counter the attack. Below are the intended target points.

Notation

Notation is then written in the following form:

Participant 1: 3 - 4P - 11 - 9P
Participant 2: 3P - 4 - 11P - 9

The choreography above then states the following:

  • Participant 1 will attack participant 2's left arm (right side of attacker); Participant 2 will block the attack
  • Participant 2 will attack participant 1's left hip (right side of attacker); Participant 1 will block the attack
  • Participant 1 will attack participant 2's right side of their head (left side of attacker); Participant 2 will block the attack
  • Participant 2 will attack participant 1's right arm (left side of attacker); Participant 1 will block the attack
